A fishing day does not end when El Jefe returns to the dock. There are pumps, strainers and machinery spaces to inspect, and water left in places that are awkward to reach with a sponge. For Capt. Brett, that last part of the cleanup helped make the case for Arid.
In this onboard interview, Brett describes a sportfishing operation that puts the boat to work while keeping a close eye on its condition. His interest in residual-water removal comes from the daily routine of caring for the vessel.

Two Series 4 units aboard El Jefe
The installation has two Arid Series 4 units: a four-zone system in the aft lazarette and an eight-zone system in the engine room. That arrangement serves separate areas where fluid collects instead of treating the whole boat as one wet space.
In the engine room, Brett values being able to notice drips and leaks. A space with less standing water gives him a clearer starting point when checking what has appeared and where it may have come from.
The small jobs that add up
Brett points to the equipment in the aft bilge, including livewell pumps and an ice machine, when explaining why keeping up with residual water matters to him. He also describes seawater entering the engine room during routine strainer work. Even ordinary maintenance can leave another area to dry.
One benefit he returns to is straightforward: less time reaching into the bilge with a sponge at the end of the day. These are his observations aboard this boat, rather than a promise that every installation will produce the same result.

Start with the places that stay wet
El Jefe’s arrangement shows why an installation begins with the boat’s wet areas, access and layout. The number of pickups should follow those needs. For the basic process, see how Arid removes residual fluid.
Arid does not repair leaks or replace conventional bilge pumps and emergency pumping equipment. Inspection, cleaning and correcting the source of returning water remain part of the job. If you are considering a system, tell us where water collects aboard your boat.
